MAGIC OF LA BOHEME

MAGIC OF LA BOHEME

AN HOMAGE TO PARIS AND PUCCINI

Giacomo Puccini’s masterpiece “La Bohème” is one of the five most frequently performed operas in the world. Set in Paris, the main reason for its success is that it depicts the actual lives, pains, and loves of artists working without trying to please the public, striving instead to create pure art. Any life governed by such idealistic ambitions is somewhat awe-inspiring. Cherishing the complete creative freedom the bohemians sought, this book predominantly features works unrelated to its title topic.

The subject of “La Bohème” is extremely popular. Charles Aznavour sang about it in his world-famous chanson, Thomas Mann dedicated passages to it in his classic novel “Magic Mountain”. At the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Puccini’s death, the bohemian spirit brought together 59 artists from 26 countries to celebrate the opera’s international success with contemporary imagery. The editor of this book has divided the artworks from around the world into chapters and added selected haiku poems, exquisite quotes, descriptive statements, and illustrations. The result is a multifaceted homage from an imaginative perspective.

A  HOMAGE TO PARIS AND PUCCINI

YGARTUA’S INTERPRETATION OF “MAGIC OF BOHEME” with his new series SIN CONTROL identifies with the Bohemian lifestyle of artists in general, always living outside the norm, a free, irregular lifestyle which Ygartua has constantly searched and profited by, living a lifestyle that pertains to him and does not follow or become restrained by being controlled by the norm. Living an unconventional lifestyle gave him the opportunities that he has always been seeking to continue on his preordained path creating masterful works of art daily.

This International book was of particular interest as it is a Homage to Paris and Puccini – having lived and exhibited over the years in Paris since 1974 and one of Paul’s most adored cities to paint and create in. Paris is the city that celebrates the Arts, the Artists and the Bohemian Latin Quarter in Paris.

The City of Paris, the City of Light – it lights the way for all artists, emerged in the 19th century, bohemian style – always an inspiration to Ygartua– since 1974, the first time he painted and lived in Paris in the 14th arrondissement, General Leclere and every year since he paints, works with Galleries and exhibits at the International Exhibitions at the Carousel at the Louvre.

His New Series “SIN CONTROL” is a declaration of FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION–this free-flow style exuberates with energy, and emotion and captivates the viewer with a frenzy of movement.

Painting Paris by Paul Ygartua

Paris is called the “Capital Of Art” because it was a place of enlightenment in the 18th century. During this age of enlightenment, Paris became the center of education, philosophy and learning.

Preservation and restoration of the monumental buildings of the world, not only promote respect for those who lived before us, but it preserves history and cultivates pride of our past making us unique in the world.

“I have painted Paris throughout the years and I am always searching for a new interpretation. I feel that to experience the ‘Spirit’ of Paris one must indulge in the iconic architecture of the 19th century. I have always been inspired by the historic statues and extraordinary buildings, yet, I have not, until recently, found a way to give a Tribute to the architects of these monumental buildings of Paris.

By using the foreground as the predominant subject, then fading to a distant landscape gives a dominant feel to the subject matter in the foreground.

The Iconic buildings are portrayed as the important feature in the foreground of each painting. Absolutely taking advantage by exploiting the architectural rendering, giving light to focus on the historical importance and monumental attention to these iconic masterpieces of architecture.

A TRIBUTE TO THE ARCHITECTS AND ICONIC BUILDINGS AND LANDMARKS OF THE 19TH CENTURY
