WE LIVED IN RIO FOR SIX MONTHS 1984 – TALA AND ANTON WENT TO PRE-SCHOOL THERE, ALL IN PORTUGUESE

Ygartua painted daily and similar to Jerusalem, he painted for another show at the Bayshore Inn, International Suite in Vancouver 1984.  This show was devoted mainly to the Carnival of Rio, wonderful subject matter, colorful and one of the most famous Carnivals in the World.  The beaches, the people, and the natives from the Amazon were among the subjects he concentrated on. We had to get official papers and paid around $7OO.OO just to get the paintings out of the country–even though they were all Ygartua paintings.

The paintings below are a mix of Ygartua’s surrealistic works at this time period, including his unfinished Celestial Musician and ending with his unfinished Celestial Astronauts – last photo.

This is a very small example of his many studies during the 8O’s – many never photographed and many sold, mainly in North America and Europe.
