MUSICAL LEGENDS & ICONS SHOW TORONTO

YGARTUA COLLECTORS

THE GWARTZ FAMILY

We first met Dr. Gwartz and his wife Florence at the Toronto One of A Kind Show – a great show with 800 artisans – a mix of potters, jewellers, sculptors, painters and designers covering every area imaginable and the wonderful Chefs, pastry and everything Christmas including puddings and the best shortbread cookies ever.

A really talented group of people and with 50,000 visitors, it was great for everybody.  We really did enjoy the people and the city of Toronto–so we kept going back for around 15 years.  As it was timed perfectly for the American Thanksgiving, many Americans also visited the venue every year– it was tradition.  They all showed up and so did our Ygartua Patrons, they could never get enough – big city mentality, they were YGARTUA COLLECTORS and when they became a Collector, they continued to collect.

Dr. and Mrs. Gwartz started buying Jazz paintings every time we came to Toronto, they ended up buying the Jazz paintings for the office and they ended up with quite a reputation – people in the building would actually go down to the office to look at the Music Gallery – and then they started to buy paintings for their family and that is how we met Harry Gwartz, one of their sons.

The Gwartz Family are professionals but we did not know that they are a Musical Family, with a lot of talent as well and not only collectors of Ygartua music themes, but also different themed paintings, from the Italian scenes, horse races and abstracts–their collection grew.

Harry is a passionate collector and follower of many famous musicians and in Toronto, he knows everybody. Out of the blue, he emails us a few years back, at the time we were in Paris, and he emails and asks if we would like to do a show with Ygartua Music themes and abstracts with a few jammers and the famous Dr. Draw.

Upon reading the bio on Dr. Draw, we were impressed and thrilled by the invite. We were getting back to Vancouver around the third week of May and decided the first weekend in June would work for everybody – and as Ygartua can paint and put together a show in around 10 days, it all worked out according to plan.

Here are some photos of that weekend, and believe it or not, no photos of Paul and Dr. Draw together–the Special Guests of Honour.  We get carried away with the event and the thrill of doing a show together with Dr. Draw. We always forget about the publicity and the importance of photos, instead, we are there for the experience and opportunity to have a crowd of music and art lovers together.  It is exciting and memorable and as always we feel privileged to be able to participate in such an event.

Paul did a painting for Dr. Draw’s birthday and he also did another one while in Paris, impressionistic – one we have kept in our Family Collection – it emulates the extraordinary presence this young contemporary electric violinist portrays to his audience – it is spellbinding, it is truly a privilege to see such talent.

Harry arranged everything to perfection and we thank him for an exciting and rewarding event at the Art Loft in Toronto – in June 2017

DAVID BOWIE

You can’t put down anybody.

You can just try and

understand.  The emphasis

shouldn’t be on revolution, it

should be on communication.

Because it’s just going to get

more uptight.  The more the

revolution goes on, and there

will be a civil war sooner or

later.

BOB MARLEY

Money is numbers and

Numbers never end.  If it takes

Money to be happy, your

Search for happiness will

Never end.

Life’s a test, mistakes are

lessons, but the gift of life is

Knowing that you have made a

difference.

WINE OF LIFE

And we will take our courage

Into both our hands

Mold it to our need

Fashion it to our desires

Reach out in application.

And thus will we

Take this eternal time

That impatiently does wait –

As winged horses do

To chariot tied

And ready for the fray.

And then

From this, the world we know.

Will come our means

Of passage

To a world beyond –

Where like the gods of yore

We’ll drink from Nectar’s cup

The wine of life

For this world

And all worlds yet to come.
